Last season the Dallas Cowboys fell short of their goal to win a Super Bowl but it was not for a lack of trying and leaving everything on the field. 2014 promises to be different as “Da Boys” look to have a bounce back season. Here is a look at a few of the key players for the Cowboys.

Offense: Many doubt and disrespect Tony Romo as an average Quarterback but truth be told he is still one of the best in the league. Numbers don’t lie as he still managed to throw for 3,800 yards and toss 31 touchdowns. The problems rest with his protection as he was sacked 35 times last season. With a number that high you would think he would have thrown more than 10 interceptions. Yes he may falter in December but without him the Cowboys won’t stand a chance.

How can one describe Dez Bryant? Easy. He is “EXPLOSIVE”. One of the best young receivers we have in the NFL and if he manages to stay healthy and focused then he will break all of Michael Irving’s team records and pass a few of the NFL greats as well. The running game is still anchored by underrated Demarco Murray. When heathy he provides a great balance to this offense. Jason Whitten may be the best true Tight End in the game. He is Romo’s go to guy and has proved through the years that he can handle the pressure.

Defense: The hope of playoffs success hinges on the defensive side of the ball. The offseason was not kind to the Cowboys defense as they lose Demarcus Ware to free Agency and then Sean Lee to injury. Maybe Rolando McClain can get his head together and be the player he was drafted to be. George Selvie is ready to be a leader on the D-Line alongside Nick Hayden who must step up the intensity. The secondary must be on their “A” games all season as they face some of the best receivers in the NFL in their own division.

Coaching: Talk about a hot seat. Jason Garrett has flirted with the gasoline pool for quite sometime now and this might be his make or break year. I believe he is a good coach but sometimes even the great ones have to emerge elsewhere to really show their worth. Can he get it done this year?
