For the first time in my 31 years on this earth, I have witness something out of the 2014-2015 Miami Dolphins. Never in the history of my fandom have I witnessed a quarterback (Ryan Tannehill) throw for 4,000 yards and a running back (Lamar Miller) rushing for 1,000 yards in the same season. The only other quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards in a single season was Dan Marino. Six times this feat was accomplished by Marino. Never once did one of his backs eclipse the 1,000 yard mark. The Dolphins have been close one other time. In 1986, Dan Marino threw for 4116, but Mark Higgs fell just short of the 1,000 yard milestone rushing for 915 yards. Congratulations to Ryan Tannehill and Lamar Miller for standing alone in achieving this accomplishment. Not Bob Griese, not Dan Marino, Not Ricky Williams, Ronnie Brown, or Larry Czonka. Not too many fans will pop the champagne after a lackluster 8-8 season and getting embarrassed by the 3-12 New York Jets on their home field the last game of the season. One thing is for sure, the future is bright in Miami, but there’s an apparent need for consistency.
As always Dolphins fans, There’s always next year!
