Welcome to Truluvsports Week 5 Power Rankings. As the weeks go on the Rankings get harder. Teams are making moves to claim spots while early season winners are now becoming middle season losers. There were a few slip-ups from some dominate teams which provided an opening for a few middle of the pack teams to gain some ground. The Broncos, Eagles, Seahawks and Chargers continue to chase one another while the Cowboys, Bengals and Cardinals are still on their heels. Let’s review Week 5.
32. Oakland Raiders (0-4): Bye week as they get ready to take on the Chargers. Last week #32
31. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5): They haven’t given up on the season yet. Pride is a powerful tool in professional sports. Last week #31
30. New York Jets (1-4): I’m still not sure what happened Sunday. Ryan wanted a QB change but threw in an older version of Smith. Last week #27
29. Tennessee Titans (1-4): Close but no cigar for the Titans. Whitehurst didn’t look to bad out there. Last week #30
28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-4): The Bucs will play you tough with hopes of you making a mistake late in the game. Too bad they usually are the ones making the late mistakes. Last week #28
27. Washington Redskins (1-4): Cousins and Jackson showed up against the Champs but where was Morris? Last week #26
26. St. Louis Rams (1-3): The Rams will be dangerous soon. The Davis era is in full swing and this team has the confidence needed to win in this league. Looking for that veteran presence and execution to get them over the hump. Last week #29
25. Atlanta Falcons (2-3): How does a team with an explosive offense like theirs look so terrible on Sundays? The defense is beyond weak, the coaching staff is lost and the fans are fed up. Let’s all thank HBO for making us think the Falcons had a chance this season. Last week #20
24. Minnesota Vikings (2-3): Maybe Bridgewater is the real difference maker with the team. Ponder should be demoted to the grounds crew and the defense is in dire need of a stopper. Last week #21
23. New Orleans Saints (2-3): Maybe they will get it together but right now this team is bad. Brees made a few mental mistakes last week. The defense has to believe they have NFL talent on that side of the ball or this will be a long season in the Big Easy. Last week # 25
22. Miami Dolphins (2-2): Bye week as they get ready to take on the Dolphins. Last week #23
21. Kansas City Chiefs (2-2): The Chiefs are still trying to find their place in the league. One good week and one bad week will not get it done. Last week #17
20. Cleveland Browns (2-2): The Browns fought their way back and managed to pull out the victory, Great win. Last week #24
19. Chicago Bears (2-3): The Bears have the potential and the experience, too bad they are having trouble displaying them this season. Last week #14
18. New York Giants (3-2): The Giants seemed to finally have figured out their offense. Eli looks good, the running games looks good and the defense has made stops when needed. Last week #22
17. Buffalo Bills (3-2): The Bills defense is pretty good. Kyle Orton is not your 400 yard passer but he can move the chains. Last week #19
16. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2): The Steelers are wining but they are still playing with fire. If the Jags had any kind of ground game this game could have went another way. Last week #16
15. Carolina Panthers (3-2): I applaud the Panthers for their gritty comeback win, their defense is putting them in a bad position. Great thing for them is that the rest of the NFC South is terrible. Last week #16
14. Houston Texans (3-2): The Texans can play football at a high level without a doubt. You can’t win them all. A great rivalry in the making with the Cowboys. Last week #10
13. New England Patriots (3-2): Maybe the demise talk was premature. Maybe the Bengals just had a bad game. Either way you slice it the Pats done their job and got the victory. Still not sold yet. Last week #18
12. Detroit Lions (3-2): The Lions suffered a heartbreak not only due to kicker issues but their offense was held in check. Bye Bye Henry. Last week #7
11. Baltimore Ravens (3-2): Despite the loss the Ravens are still a tough team to play. The offense has found a new weapon in the ageless Steve Smith and the defense looks rejuvenated. Last week #6
10. Green Bay Packers (3-2): The Packers play who is on their schedule so don’t blame them for beating the weak teams. That’s what they are paid to do. Win. Last week #13
9. San Francisco 49ers (3-2): There is no question this is not the same team from the last two season. But they have seemed to hit a stride in their last two victories. Can it last despite rumors? Last week #12
8. Indianapolis Colts (3-2): The Colts faced a tough opponent and came out with another victory. Luck is slinging the ball this due to a lack of a true running game. Last week #11
7. Arizona Cardinals (3-1): The Cardinals are still a top 10 despite the beat-down they took Sunday. Can they get back on track or was that a sign of things to come? Last week #2
6. Cincinnati Bengals (3-1): They had a chance to put the nail in the coffin on the Pats season and maybe a few careers. But they fell on they face. It was their time to shine and they did nothing. Will they bounce back? Yes. Last week#1
5. Dallas Cowboys (4-1): Talk about them all you want but they keep going out there week after week and winning. No matter the competition there is only ONE goal in football. Win. Last week #9
4. Philadelphia Eagles (4-1): That defense is all I can say. It’s the Rams for crying out loud. No matter what I still love my birds. Just waiting on that big signature win for us. Last week #8
3. San Diego Chargers (4-1): The sleeper team of the NFL. The Chargers are on a mission and crushing teams that dare get in their way. No need to mention the Jets game. Last week #5
2. Denver Broncos (3-1): How does Peyton continue to amaze fans that have been watching him for years? Are they beatable? Yes. Who can do it besides the team below? Last week #4
1. Seattle Seahawks (3-1): Is Russell Wilson a playmaker? That question was answered Monday night. The Seahawks are tough for any team to face. Why do people continue to question them? Last week #1
