The Tampa Bay Rays did something yesterday they haven’t done in nearly a decade, Start a season without Joe Maddon in the dugout.
The Rays look to new skipper Kevin Cash to fill Maddon’s shoes as we head into the 2015 season. This is Cash’s first stint as manager and all Rays fans are optimistic that he can in fact fill those shoes.
The Rays started the season yesterday versus the Baltimore Orioles. They did this with a handful of pitchers (Alex Cobb, Jake McGee, Alex Colome, Matt Moore and Drew Smyly) and a utility player, Nick Franklin, on the disabled list. The Rays lost by a score of 6-2 with Asdrubal Cabrera and Even Longoria pushing runs in.
With many familiar faces gone from the Rays and a new manager at the helm, I’m afraid it’s going to be a long season for us fans, but hey, it’s still opening day so…..PLAY BALL
